Overview

An excellent 6 lane 25-Metre competition swimming pool.

Opened in summer 2012, a truly excellent 6 lane competition swimming pool.
Spacious changing rooms with a dedicated spectator seating area positioned
alongside the pool. Dimensions: Length 25m Width 12.5m Depth 0.9m (shallow)
1.8m (deep). Ample on-site parking.

Directions

The School entrance is off Apperley Lane (opposite the Stansfield Arms pub).
Proceed ahead (keep left of the dividing fence) and follow the drive up to the school.
On approaching the car park area drive to the right of the modern building extension
and park on the right facing the trees.

Face the gable-end of the building opposite the tree-line, to access the pool proceed down the
external paved corridor between the two buildings. The doors at the end of this corridor will be unlocked to allow entrance & exit from 6.00pm until our staff team leave. Please do not enter the school site more than 10 minutes prior to the allotted lesson time.

Once in the building, proceed forward & then immediately right up one flight of stairs. Ahead through the doors and you will find changing rooms to your right.

Changing rooms are segregated with pool access for swimmers being the opposite end of the changing room. Parents wishing to access this way should use the disposable shoe covers provided in the changing rooms.
Alternatively return to the corridor and turn right to access the pool-side viewing area via the glass door at the end of this corridor.

General:

All swimmers must wear swimming caps. (We have swimming caps available to purchase at £3.00 each)

No outside footwear is permitted on pool-side. (Shoe covers are provided)

No food or drink is allowed on pool-side.

Please do not allow your child to enter the water or pool-side prior to the start of their lesson. Immediately prior to the lesson pupils should report to their Instructor, who will then supervise water entry.

PLEASE NOTE:

Due to Child Safeguarding concerns, pupils / parents / carers are NOT permitted to enter the changing rooms at the start of Best Stroke’s hire session until advised to do so by a Best Stroke team member or WGS staff.

This will be no earlier than 6.05pm.Thereby giving WGS pupils time to vacate the pool & changing rooms.

Covid-19 Precautions:

The health, well-being & safety of our customers, swimmers & staff are our prime consideration. We wish to promote a Covid secure environment within our sessions. Whilst Covid 19 is still present in the community, and as the pool is a school facility, we request your support of the following precautions for the benefit of everyone;

• Should anyone feel unwell or have any Covid-19 symptoms, we ask that they do not attend the session.
• We recommend face masks are worn whilst on the school site, i.e. whilst spectating / in changing rooms / in toilets / moving around. This applies to all adults and children of school year 7 and above.
• Maintain a 1-metre social distance from other users whilst moving around and wherever possible when seated in the spectator area.
• Use hand sanitisers when entering & leaving the premises.
• Swimmers should arrive ‘beach ready’, swim costume under outdoor clothing, to avoid need to access changing rooms before the lesson.
• Please limit attendance to only one parent / family member / carer per family. For the benefit of all, we wish to keep numbers attending to a minimum.
